Magic requires the mage to speak words of power from the language of creation, and use their soul's energy to give the word power. These words of power allow the magic user to impose his will upon and command reality, temporarily bending or disregarding the laws of physics to cause an effect in accordance with the word of power spoken, or a "spell" in layman's terms. By speaking several words of power, the effect is changed in accordance to those words of power. A magic user's state of mind, grammar, pronunciation, and accent all influence the spell's result.

For example, Bob the Wizard wants to cast a fire ball spell, so Bob speaks in the language of creation, "FIRE-BALL-THROW", depending on Bob's discipline, enunciation, and intent, the spell could fizzle out, summon and throw a fire ball, summon and throw dozens of fire balls, summon and throw one enormous fire ball, or light Bob on fire. When casting a spell, the magic user must use his soul as fuel for the language of creation, to give the words the power to command reality.

The soul is layered, made up of the consciousness, memories, personality, emotions, and thoughts of the magic user, in that order. When a magic user casts a spell, their mind essentially dissolves a part of itself to power the spell. At first, the magic user only loses the thought that went into the spell, but if they continue, they'll begin to lose their emotions, personality, memories, and eventually, consciousness, suffering total oblivion.

The loss of a magic user's thoughts and emotions can be easily replenished with enough rest and meditation, but damage to their personality, memories, and consciousness is either permanent, or requires a herculean effort to repair.

Wizards are those who learned some of the words of the language of creation and how to channel them in spells themselves. Sorcerers are those who made a pact with a su

Seems like you might want to differentiate between sort of broad and acute levels on the thoughts and emotions level.

What does pulling a thought out of the head of the caster mean? Just the thought "hey, I want to cast a spell now?" or does a bigger spell pull more thoughts? Is a wizard in danger of forgetting the flow of an ongoing conversation, or what he is doing in the kitchen now that he used his fire magic to light the stove? If this reaches too far, grabbing thoughts out of your head, it could become very crippling, and leave a wizard open for a few seconds after casting a spell in a fight while they figure out where they are again. Which maybe isn't a bad thing for the system.

As for emotion, if I am angry at that man and cast a lightning bolt that eats into my emotion, does it eat that anger I lashed out with and render me calm again, or does it broadly sap at my capacity to feel emotion at all, leaving me somewhat less angry in the moment, but also less able to enjoy spending time with my daughter later?

My initial thinking is that the system works best if the Thought case is extremely specific to the present situation. They can lose Thoughts, but not the ability to Think, because pulling too much out of that bin starts to interfere with conscious awareness right away, instead of stepping down the power progression presented here. I assume the intention is that very small/simple spells could be cast all day long with just Thought power.
Emotion I could go either way on, general or specific to the moment, but I think it makes more sense as a broader lessening of capacity to feel emotion in general, and that fits better with the loss of personality that would come next. That step has to be a broad lowering of levels almost by definition.

Itt one poster acts the part of Rita Repulsa while the 2nd player acts the part of the Power Rangers as a whole, the storylines and rules for each of the 2 players of the game are as follows

Player 1: you are Rita Repulsa and have recently discovered how to resurrect every monster of yours the rangers have defeated thus far, but to counter this the rangers manage to banish them all to the Scooby Doo universe shortly after their resurrection. Not willing to accept defeat so easily Rita Repulsa uses this new power of hers elsewhere, itt roll the dice (1 die) all numbers from 1 to 6 will determine wich slasher film character will be risen from the grave, the designated number for each character belongs to the order in which the movies were made, for example Jason Voorhees may hold the number 2 spot while the Leprechaun may hold the number 6 spot.

Player 2: you are the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers and your arch rival Rita Repulsa has sent down a new enemy the likes of which you have never seen, working together though you manage to defeat him just like every other monster, but just like every other monster Rita Repulsa throws her staff down to earth to make this slasher fim character bigger, your normal g1 Megazord may not be enough this time around so the rangers must summon from across time one of many different variations of Megazords that existed throughout the show, roll the dice (1 die) to determine which one, they will be in order from 1 to 6 as they appeared in the show.

Rules for both players: both players must do reaserch depending on which slasher film character you got or which Megazord you got in order to accuratly know fully what both character's strangths and weaknesses are and be able use that research to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to the other player which would win the fight.

So I want to create a cavalier/bard character that rides a bulette as a mount. I want the rider to be some sort of recognizable creature which is distinctly monstrous, like a bugbear or a troll, but I've been having trouble deciding what monstrous creature to make them. The only rules are that they have to be capable of singing for their bardic performance because I'm not faffing around with having to equip and unequipped my weapons and instrument all the time, and of course have to be able to ride a bulette. Any monsters you're particularly fond of? The bulette isn't set in stone either but I'm rather fond of them.
Any play system is welcome, old or new, just looking for cool monster ideas at this point

Deep gnome is an interesting idea- I was originally thinking something large and horrible, known for grinding the bones of children kind of deal because I like the gental giant group and the idea of a silly singing monster amuses me.
The juxtaposition though of a tiny gnome covered in heavy armor riding a massive bulette is quite fun as well and I'm a little torn now

My Current thought is going to be a pair of travelers, George and Lenny style, except that in this instance it's going to be a tiny owl creature of my own design who is small and witty but perhaps a bit lacking in the smarts department, and the role of George will be played by a were-bulette who at heart knows they are truly meant to be a bulette and is happiest in their bestial form. I'm currently looking for character ideas to draw from though for prisoners and slavers so if anyone wants to throw something out there I can use all as much help as I can get right now

Would people be interested in a Dwarf Fort Succession Game?

Standard one-year turns I suppose, preferably with say a week-long limit on taking your turn, and trying to keep the waiting list short.

I'll go first unless someone else would prefer to.

I thought I'd give people a day or two to have a chance to give opinions on starting locations.

If left to my own choice I'll just embark in some wooded area in a temperate zone, with a river.

Any suggestions?

First, save yourself a lot of trouble and start from Ultra-Tech. Most of the weapons are there, or close enough. A bolter is just a gyroc weapon loaded with 18.5mm APHEX. The Imperium of Man at it's height was TL 10, 'Nids and the Eldar are both TL 11, the Necrons are TL12, and the Tau are TL 9 but they don't need an Unusual Background to buy Engineer skills and their infrastructure isn't FUBAR. Orks are approximately TL 10 but many, maybe most, have Quick Gadgeteer and/or TL-transcending wildcard skills.

Looking over your Gets Hot rules, for result 6, 4d6 burning damage per round seems excessive, given that 1d6-1 per round corresponds to "entire body on fire." Even 1d6 burning damage, directly to the hand, would be enough to present a serious risk of the gunner being left with a charred stump.
Similarly, for result 7, why not just use the fragmentation rules?

If you're treating power swords as cutting damage plus follow-up, power fists should probably be crushing damage plus follow-up, since it's the same basic mechanism, instead of a multiplier to thrust damage which I'm not sure there's a precedent for. Combine it with the sleeve exoskeleton (from Ultra-Tech) when somebody's using one without powered armor.

IP Address: intcraft.online
Server Version: 1.8.8 (any client from 1.8, 1.9 or 1.10 can join the server.)
Chien's World Map cropped to Eurasia
Towny, Brewery, meme recipes, word filter and more..
RP and General Rules
Contrary to previous iterations we will now state the actual rules for the server in a clear way, pre-launch. In theory, as always, there is only one rule: Don’t be a shitter. If you follow this set of rules, you are thereby not a shitter and you are in theory allowed to do what you want on Intcraft, and it will be up to the server population and community to put an end to their own disputes.
Towny War Flag will only be enabled from Friday-Sunday, from Monday-Thursday it will be disabled. PvP will always be enabled.
First 24 hours after launch will have War Flag disabled
Roleplay
Building a town/nation must be historically accurate for that location given the current time (300bc-300ad)
Buildings do not have to be 100% accurate, variations are allowed. But no memes.
Towns do not have to be exactly in the same geographical location as they were, but it should be in the same general area.
If you only want to pvp, find a pvp server
If you only want to buildfag, join a nation or get gud.
Nations can spread through conquest or diplomacy, but no Atlantic Federation tier memes.

Here's something I like to use. Just simple: set them against the player's morale. For example: (and I hope none of the WiI players are here: get back to the thread!) the "big baddie" I have planned for Wars in Immoren is a Cryxian warcaster, Sheerah Ravenmane, daughter of the Satyxis Queen Skarre Ravenmane. While she does have the general "necromancer pirate" theme of Cryx, I have the knowledge that /quest wants to keep every single person alive, no matter how inconsequential to the story. So I made her cause the most collateral damage possible: she does not know the meaning "of subtle," she will kill you and raise you from the death just to skull fuck you. She is so sadistic even other satyxis are scared of her.

tl;dr, Use the normal stereotypical BBEG for your setting and twist it to make it seem horrifying to your players.

You are Asria, human leader of a band of slaves toiling under the heel of a mad scientist who may once have been human, but is no longer. After generations of toil in an insane clockwork labyrinth in the heart of the city where once you served the Rulers who abandoned you to the hordes of risen dead, you have decided that enough is enough.
