Now this, this is how to run a Neutral character that has to deal in murder.

Evil characters don't have to give any f'ks, or look like they do.

Good characters should feel at least uncomfortable with it, but would often weigh it along the lines of a greater Good.

Neutral characters have no such comfort, so would deal with it like an average person would. Props to the QM for showing that.

Geez, I’ve forgotten to answer these.

>Imagine if, rather than having this being an accurate record of the time before mortals, each race had their own version of the creation myth associated to their sense of being or identity.
There’s a reason why it says “as told by Pesi the Skull” at the start, just saying :V

>If I may, can I know the reason why the main NSFW quest is on break?
At the start, I just felt like working on something else. Recently it was because I wanted to finish Passage first. Right now I’m actually planning on updating it again soon, though I might do a few more updates to Scion and Leaves first.
>Maybe it's just me, but maybe you should bite the bullet and start a new thread for it.
Wait, are you talking about the main LL quest or just the quest discussion thread? If the former, the current thread is almost done, I just need to find the drive to finish it off. If it is the second, the whole reason why I merged all the dis threads was because they barely saw any use in the first place and I didn’t want to clog down the dis page too much. Might be prudent to split it into themes, though. One for the lewd vore fantasy, one for the lewd space stuff and one for the non-lewd stuff. I’ll consider it.

>The gods are seasons, Ptamet is Fall, Wjares is Winter, Volek is Spring (obviously), that makes Talos Summer. Wouldn't Talos make a nice summer god?
They are already themed by seasons, just not the four we’re used to. Instead, they are based on the three seasons used by ancient Egypt, with Volek being Emergence (When the ground is fertile and the seeds are planted), Ptamet being Harvest (self-explanatory) and finally Wjares being Inudation (When the Nile floods the plains and destroy everything in its path, but leaving fertile s

'S OK. It's not like I'm fast to form replies, either. The relevant bit of Egyptian trivia IS appreciated.

>are you talking about the main LL quest or just the quest discussion thread?
It's the latter, and I do think you can pick up where you left off. To be honest, though, I was hoping for a place to discuss possible fetishes without it being weird, as well as a repository for possibly lewd fan art.
Flockload has great fanart. I'm just saying, Lord Triti.

>Talos will take the domains that his worshipers bestow upon him. Pesi even tried to suggest rebirth, but the suggesters chose being diplomatic instead.
Everyone wants the harem route, but tis' a path one must really, really, really, really, REALLY commit to. I guess that makes Talos a god of Love and Passion? Technically, that means we have to empathize with Neferi's perspective, assuming we can convince her to not walk over us (unless we want to) and make a convert out of her. She does seem to have a Predator mentality, after all. If Sebak has Prey mentality, they'd almost be a perfect match.

>the next one will probably not be based on Fire Emblem.
Disappointed we won't have characters sharing rings with each other to connect with the spirits/AI of past heroes. But seriously, I meant something like bonuses (or penalties) with certain characters working together. I do like having my characters bond and develop into closer relationships with each other. The power of shipping compells me.

Just to geek out for a moment, the "tarot" was originally a playing card game, but it wasn't poker. It was a game in Italy in the 14th century with rules similar to Bridge, and Mamluk cards from Turkey. The very artsy cards commissioned by Italian aristocracy did quickly inspire people to use them for storytelling purposes, in a game known as “tarocchi appropriati,” where they would draw random cards, and write poetry about the other players, based on what they drew. Eventually that morphed into the fortune telling we know today.

Welcome all couples and singles to the first annual Dance Day fifth annual Questden Romance Festival! Where all Questden characters could have the chance to find true love (if they’re lucky), and for characters that are already in relationships, they might just have the date of their lives!

Just like the previous years, draw your quest characters looking to mingle with another participating quest character looking for love. Woo and flirt to test the waters: will the duo be compatible, or will it fail spectacularly? Singletons are also welcome, as are established couples on a date.

Also, whether you’re a quest author or a suggestor, here’s the place to draw or write a valentine to send to your favorite quest character! Who knows, they might even react (or write back)!

This is both the main character and a support character, so Coordinator would be best fit for a secondary class to opt into.
Nothing else really fits unless you go Wizard for the armour passive and not cast of its spells to save on AP (outside of emergencies)... but it's both not anywhere as good as Coordinator's bonuses and you can't trust the players to conserve AP.

Being a discussion thread...
I was expecting this secondary ability list to be different from the primary list, focusing more on bonuses that would synergise with the selected primary class and be more 'secondary' in nature. Choices kindaaa feel limited, and we're all agreeing on the same one... but may we be looking at it from the wrong perspective? Hm

well, the class system is just picking two classes from the class list and getting access to the abilities of both. The Primary just lets you pick an ability from the class' list at the start. Kosroh's starting ability from Apothecary is the Healing Salve ability

Well we gotta know how magic works in this setting. With deduction it seems there are schools/domains/types but what underlying rules do we (in character) know? Do we have MP, do we generate it over time or other ways? Does every spell belong to a domain or are cross-domain spells a thing? What about mages cooperating on a spell? Stuff of that type.

What you describe is certainly reasonable; the only problem lies in how one is to define a railroad. For example, the train analogy considers point A as the beginning and B as the destination. Whilst the train may stop to take on more passengers on the way, change the scenery surrounding the trip, or create a social environment for the passengers, the destination remains the same. Meaning, it is impossible to move in any direction other than forward by virtue of the railroad. Further, I, as the passenger, can suggest to the conductor how fast or slow the train is to move; I cannot make the train move unless I am the conductor.

However, that is a pretty rigid analogy. Basically, if I, as the conductor, can make the train move in any direction I desire based on the pre-existing rail system, the train will make its way to point B eventually; however, I can also take it to any other point, C, D, E, and such, within the context of where I would like to travel. Essentially, I can still make the train go slower, faster, or stop entirely as the conductor based on what others tell me. If I am biased, I can pick or ignore what the passengers tell me because I am the one that moves the train. If I am biased and particularly experienced, they won't even know that I am doing it. As such, the train will continue moving in the direction I desire short of someone else hijacking it.

That is basic approach I take in regard to the topic – there is a lot more to it and the above analogy probably falls short of properly explaining the concept – but I digress.

I think some degree of railroading is necessary for good narrative. Free form roleplaying is the counterpoint; because there is lack of power balance, there is also a lack of structure. Such games usually do not have a good narrative because no-one is able to control the action of the players other than the

I think the issue with quests is that they are not well defined. They're a very new artform, and I don't believe a general consensus of what makes up a quest has been agreed upon.

First-off: Are we the 'players'? Surely we make suggestions for what the characters do, but rarely are they not their own person! DiveQuest is by far and large the most obvious example of this, but even more 'freeform' quests, such as Kara, have established personalities. Think of it this way: >/quest/ is an indirect player character!

Is this a form of railroading? Perhaps. Not having control over your character is truly the only thing that *can* be definitively defined as railroading, but are they truly /your/ characters? No! Did you go through character creation, defining their backstory, traits, personality? Even if you did, you would still have to share them with the rest of the board, thus preventing a character from ever having a specific player.

So, a quest does not have players. Likewise, it does not have a GM. It has an *Author*. That's right, someone very defined by writing the story! It's the author's role to create the world and characters of the quest, to show it to us, and to choose the suggestions that create what happens next. And of course the author needs to choose suggestions! If they didn't, we wouldn't need them at all! We could simply read the suggestions, and have them happen as fact. But that isn't what a quest is. A quest is more like a collaborative writing project than a roleplaying game. An author writes a story, shaped by the comments and suggestions of his co-writers, who are also the audience.

There, that's my interpretation of a quest, from someone who's never run, or honestly, even made a suggestion in one! Quests may be railroaded depending on your definition of it, but it's not because the the quest runner is d

I very much liked Team Port Echo myself, especially the art style which I find nostalgically reminiscent of mid 2000s sci-fi webcomics for some reason
Suggestions don’t seem to be an accurate metric for actual readership, from what I understand; while I can only speak for myself, I only suggest when I have a particularly good idea or funny comment (or it at least seems that way to me) and tend to abstain from saying anything otherwise. Even classics like Advocate got just two or three suggestions per update when they were running.

Some quests, like Salikai for example, seem to me to have a high suggestion-to-reader ratio because of a combination of high stakes and open-ended issues, resulting in more people stating their own unique solutions, criticizing others’ suggestions and debating in the thread. Mind, they probably have the same number of readers as other quests, it’s just that more readers feel they should make a suggestion. Hello everyone!

Thank you for your concern about the quest during my hiatus. The quest is not dead. Continuing and indeed concluding it have been on my mind every single day since the last update!

I recently finished school and started a full time job in my field, which means I will have financial security and very well-defined free time to continue these things. I am happy to announce that I will be continuing Coxwette iminently! I am currently in the phase of creating flowcharts and concept maps to ensure that loose ends are tied at the ending. The quest will have a full epilogue, too.

I am making a new discussion thread because the last one is a mess, and I want a clean place for people to leave questions or remarks for me as well as discuss the ongoing quest.

Anyway, thanks for reading and making this such a fulfilling experience. 👍

Seeing divequest return led me to look up some of the other greats dwelling in hiatus limbo.

That resulted in the most pleasant surprise finding stuff had happened with coxwette since my last look.
Despite never being fortunate enough to be a participant, just reading the archives was enough. I loved the artwork for the characterisation and humour but was equally engaged by the mystery unfolding and finding myself having become emotionally invested in the characters fates.
Coxwette was something special.
Even if it seems to have sunk back into hiatus again, whether that hiatus is brief, long or sadly permanent, i just wanted to take the chance to express thanks for the journey RML.
Its been great.

hi i'm back and i haven't crossposted quest questions from my curiouscat in over a year. i'm going to do that in chunks while i wait for tvrn to get pulled out of the graveyard so i can update

>are there any hard limits to where tvrn could go? like, can we go on live tv and be like 'we're vampires. vampires exist. here's Constantin's address he's a bastard go kick his ass'
mmmm it’s hard to say without seeing the actual suggestions. live tv is a no bc ricardo isn’t that dumb. every vampire on earth would converge to turn him into ground beef if he did that

>Are vamps generally the same temperature as their surroundings? What temperature is a fever/uncomfortable for them?
they’re generally colder but warm up w activity/exertion, and don’t get bothered much by ambient air temperature but are sensitive to temperature via direct contact. hot baths instead of lukewarm/room temp would be unpleasant and it’s one of the reasons pascal doesn’t like touching humans more than necessary

>is vsl mostly like a way to put in a sign language without worrying about drawing the signing and grammar and stuff accurately because if so i COMPLETELY understand. otherwise it comes off slightly awkward (like there is an implication there is a universal "vampirese" spoken language to go with it?)
it’s partially a way to avoid misrepresenting an existing sign language but it’s also a worldbuilding thing — vsl is actually the only standardized vampiric language that exists, and the “vampiric” part of the acronym doesn’t refer to vampiric as an existing spoken language but vampiric as in the collective community. there’s an expectation from the cradle that everyone should just learn romanian at some point and an expectation from the world at large that everyo

>“Okay, ladykiller,” Strip snorts. She tilts her head back again, and she’s smiling, and Lamb’s defunct heart does something stupid and strenuous and uncomfortable. “Well, I’m not exactly a girl, so we can call this a totally new experience.”

>Right. Lamb knew that, about Strip — there had been a discussion, when they all first met, about… pronouns, gender, stuff Lamb had never thought about. Rack goes by “they” sometimes, and sometimes Rack and Sirloin call Strip “he” — but Mignon doesn’t, and Strip doesn’t correct people who use “she,” and it always seemed kind of… intimate, somehow, like something Lamb couldn’t join in on in case she might do it wrong. She did ask once, very clumsily, if it meant Strip felt like a boy, and was met with an extremely firm “no,” and since then hadn’t paid much attention, except for sometimes feeling a little out of the loop. But what else is new.

strip's gender hasn't been specifically defined (and i wouldn't say genderfluid is accurate for her or a word she would identify with) but she's nonbinary and uses both she and he pronouns with people she knows well.

It’s Beach Day, the sandiest day of the year! Pack your sunscreen and visit our floating beach resort "The Diamond Crown" orbiting high in the atmosphere of Beta Earatone. Pack your sunscreen- the sun’s ray are strong up here!

This perfectly circular, perfectly secure beach is a floating disc full of fun and fancy. Relax on its sandy red beach, swim in its waters, surf with the help of the wave generator, try your luck with novelty swimsuits, or even go hang gliding off the edge. Don’t worry, our trained professionals will catch you before you go too far down. Queen Chinzebeth VII assures us this beach is perfectly safe from scaly invaders, so relax. What could possibly go wrong?

Try not to be too lewd, there’s royalty in attendance!

The tasty buune satisfies Dotti's delightful dinner dreams for a few delicious minutes, but the appearance of a big-boobed dragon reminds Dotti about other problems. She releases her hold on her prey to deal with their shared predicament.

"Stupid swimsuit," Dotti grumbles. "At least Roger knows that hunting is hazardous. Prey can get a lucky swipe in when you least expect it."

Luckily, there's a generous wolf waving T-shirts nearby.

"I'll take one!" Dotti shouts.

Discuss & ask questions about the quest here!

Also submit custom items/weapons you would want to possibly appear in the story here. Either for Vex to use, find, or sell.

Ex. Plasma Gun (.5LB), a highly advanced tech plasma-based handgun, 12 shots per cartridge.

Items can have other attributes and magical qualities. DND 5e is my general ref for items. But the world is your oyster etc etc.

Hey, Kaktus, letting you know that you mistakenly used the words "enchantments" and "enchanted" in >>/quest/806018 and >>/quest/806078 when you most likely meant "enhancements" and "enhanced". I assume you just made a mistake here, 'cause otherwise it'd mean you really changed a basis of the setting from the original.

Also, could you create a new questdis thread for just Will We Dream? It'd help keep the info and discussion from the original Will We Dream apart from the reboot. And besides that, this old thread has already been used for way more quests than intended and probably should be retired. You could even ask a mod to move the few posts at the end of this thread about the reboot to the new questdis thread's start so nothing is left behind. And will you also put a updated background "lore dump" post in the new thread, like the one you put in this thread when you started the previous Will We Dream?

Oh, and to whoever has wiki access, could you please add a link to the Will We Dream discussion box that either points to the post where Kaktus announced the reboot, or to the new questdis thread of he makes one. Currently the discussion link on that page points to the lore dump post for the original Will We Dream which I figure won't line up completely with the reboot's changes to the setting and lore.
