D. hmmmmm... I'm sorry Max, but that answer you gave me is very confusing and contradictory to the facts that I cannot yet give you my answer to your own question yet.

See: if a kingdom having more monsters than humans in it makes its ruler an overlord, then that would make steinhardt an overlord, would it not? he rule over monster birds, and yet, a representative of the guild, Dizelu, is here from his invite. Are you insinuating steinhardt is an overlord too then? That would mean your guild shouldn't be doing any business here, should it?

Ergo, If the guild has any kind of alliace with steinhardt, then see no issues with forming peace between Dizelu's guild, and Bobbie and Abdle's kingdom ooh hoo hoo.

Not to mention, Bobbie and Abdle's kingdom does have a village of humans residing at the kingdom that could use heroes from the guild to help them, they did have a thieving cat causing mischief to them the other day.

C) it hardly matters. Your corrupt system makes negotiation impossible. You pick and choose which races are monsters purely on how you can best use them. If they aren't useful you declare them monsters so you can play-act at being righteous when you slaughter them.

Possible answers to the question that was asked:

A) I am sorry about the thing that happened to you, but Bobbie is not associated with the sister of Abdel.

B) Maybe you deserved what happened to you.

C) Bobbie is not capable of doing anything like that.

D) Other suggestions.
>>
No. 1124040 ID: fe0bf7

Well, now we got more to work with to help with negotiations. lets see... Him being a living lie detector is going to make things a bit more difficult, but I'm glad he revealed his hand so soon so that we can work around this early, so here's my thought process:

A will just alert him that we are lying. We have been associated with Abdle's sister before.

B will just ruin this whole negotiation for being rude against him.

I C is the safe way to go if we want any kind of chance of becoming allies with the guild, and gaining all it's perks (like those constructs for example) However, that comes with the cost of potentially revealing a weakness.

however, might I suggest:

D. His hatred for Eldba has common ground with Abdle. Ever heard of the enemy of my enemy is my ally? perhaps we can use that example here? I know Abdle has dislike towards his sister Eldba, and that is no lie, so that shouldn't trigger his lie detection.

Something Like "oh... You poor soul... I never realized she did that to you... My deepest condolences."
"Perhaps there is a way we can help you. You see, it may come to shock you that the great Abdle also has a hatred towards Elbda like you."
"Just how deep is your hatred of Elbda is? If it comes to it, would you be willing to work with us in common ground, and ally with a demon ruler of monsters to take down Eldba for everything she did to you? Because a partnership between the guild, and Abdle's and Bobbie's kingdom could be your one and only big chance to defeat her. You just have to let go of your prejudice of all monsters, and be willing to work with them if both you and Abdle want to surpass her. What do you say? deal?"

but yeah overall, D is my main choice. C is my second.
>>
No. 1124043 ID: d9de51

>>1124040 Well "Abdle hates Eldba too" was my first choice too. However beware using "surpass" since it implies Abdle may surpass her *in cruelty* so... watch it huh? Eldba never read the evil overlord list eh?
>>
No. 1124044 ID: e6bcd2

Oh more stuff. "So if she allies with the bannisers would that fix the locale issue?" "Pragmatism dictates an alliance would let you focus on worse demons while heroes surveil Bobbie for signs of dangerous activities."
>>
No. 1124047 ID: fe0bf7

>>1124043
Oh yeah, very good point, thanks. Perhaps instead of "surpass her" use the word "defeat her"

and maybe leave out the "my deepest condolences" from the start, juuuuust in case. would suck if the lie detection activates if Bobbie says that but doesn't mean it. Maybe "I can't imagine how that must have felt" would be better.

Let's throw him for a loop. "Stop Dredge? From assaulting that castle? Why are you sending me on a suicide mission based on lies? Dredge won't stop. He believes the castle is his. Oh and you underestimate Eldba too. Given her ruthlessness she's probably using her brother as bait while she makes a bigger move."

A) Its a pity he's taking it out on Abdle when he should be concentrating on the one who actually hurt him. I know this won't get through to him, but abdle is just a guy. Ambitious, sure, but so are a lot of people.

There's no use talking to someone who has already decided what people he's never met are like.
>>
No. 1124168 ID: 23562b

A. Yeah, tell him the reason we can't give him Abdle is that even if we give him the demon, dredge won't stop attacking even if Abdle and Bobbie dies. He's deadset in getting rid of all monsters and not just demons, no matter who rules the kingdom of monsters. This is a deal with no benefits to the monsters. And having a kingdom with the chaos that results in losing its rulers would not be ideal with the Iron Dredge situation.

(Don't say this part out loud, Bobbie, just want to give my thoughts on a couple things: I think it'll be impossible to be able to form a alliance with the heroes guild, at least not through negotiations with Max. We might have to try other means if we want that alliance. I'm thinking when we talk to Steinhardt, and make our ultimate decision to join him or not, we might need to tell him we will only join on the condition that he either:
A. Convinces Dizelu to form an alliance with the monster kingdom, despite what Max says, as that will open up opportunities to form an alliance with the Bannisters as well (this is the goal we want)
or B. if even he can't get the heroes guild to form an alliance with the monster kingdom, Steinhardt needs to denounce, condemn, and cut all ties with the Heroes guild (and any kingdoms that attack the monster kingdom) publicly, because the heroes guild has made it clear they want to attack the kingdom and kill Bobbie and Abdle, and joining a kingdom that has any alliance with any kingdoms or guild that wants to attack and destroy our kingdom would be very dangerous.
we want to make sure that if the monster kingdom falls that Steinhardt will truly be serious and loyal on his word cares about protecting Bobbie, Abdle, and the monsters, and will not just imprison everyone, and have the heroes guild arrest them for money and benefits. We might even need to do a fake curse on him to make sure he doesn't go back on his word, like we did with Victorio and the knife thing for insurance.

Second thing: I was wondering if since he can detect whether or not someone is lying or not, this can be our one chance to reveal that Bobbie and Abdle never killed Ramming Rage, and that we were there to witness the confrontation between them to prove it wasn't anyone from the monster kingdom that killed him. It'll help lower a lot of the fears people have on the kingdom of monsters. The only downside is that even if Max learns about that, he will probably keep that a secret to keep the hate against monsters going, but it might shock him enough to leave a better impression on us. But who knows, maybe as a hero he has a tiny bit of enough honor to reveal that to the public)

Oh shit! Just realized, before we continue this conversation, we are going to need to get away from that amulet. Just because Max isn’t here doesn’t mean he could come back in and sneakingly listen in on these conversation

Normally I’d pick the reasonable action and ask to walk and talk with him to get away from the amulet, but I think Bobbie deserves to let off steam with how frustrating finding allies is, so I’d say use the silverware you used to eat the pie to knock the amulet off the table as far away as you can. Hit it in an area that doesn’t have anyone around. I’d say throw it, but it might have some magical security or something.

No. 1124652 ID: a99d12

From what you say there's several possibilities. Either you have to deal with curses regularly - on a personal level and/or with the people or places you see. Or you collect curses, for a compendium or in a more literal sense. Or as a lawyer you find curse loopholes. Per us, we've seen our share of curses. However we're uninclined to be open with people who just show up. Perhaps that status may change though... future friend.
>>
No. 1124674 ID: 09d008

With all this talk about curses, I'm glad we got that amulet away from us. Imagine if that hero listened in on us and could use that against us in the future.

anyways, I think Dervan wants to curse someone, which, hey, he's free to do, his actions somewhere else is none of our business and has little to no effect on this world.

Someone could even include himself. Some curses people cast on themself on purpose and tolerate it if the reward is high enough and outweigh the negative, such as a very powerful sword that curses its swordsman.

>we've seen our share of curses. However we're uninclined to be open with people who just show up. Perhaps that status may change though... future friend.

I feel this answer is the way to go. It'll entice him to assist us in the future if he wants to learn more.

But I think we should also throw in a freebie and mention A). Maybe not go into too much detail about it, but just enough to entice him.

(sidenote: I've seen Dervan in other adventures, that business card is not just a ordinary business card, he uses that to look in on people, and communicate with them. that said, maybe at most, we can mention you sense that card feels weird or enchanted, and ask about it? But perhaps it would work better if we play dumb, and not let Bobbie and Abdle know to keep the naivety believable.

With that in mind, I don't think we should throw it away, Dervan can be pretty helpful. If he sees us in a tight situation, he might be able to lend a hand. Just have to make sure to keep him on our side and doesn't side with anyone else in this world as an outsider looking in. Best way to do that is to cooperate with his interest in curses.

>>
No. 1124740 ID: 3b0686

Maybe it's the way you look, is the reason why you are interested in curses. You said it yourself this is not how you normally look and your world made you appear like that. You yourself are cursed.

D. Ask if you and he can do this somewhere more private. I mean, I’m alright if it will reveal who Bobbie is, but if word gets out Bobbie can’t harm anyone to someone who is listening in, it’s pretty much over for her. An outsider like Dervan is fine knowing about it as he said they’re just passing through. and he could be a valuable partner from the outside if we can get a heart point from him, or at least reward us with something good if we help him, like he could let us keep that second curse detecting constructand knowing Dervan from other quests he was in, he can be very helpful if a little suspicious

And now for Abdle to try to make you feel better:

What dervan said cannot be certain, and him saying demons like Beuleveria here are not special is not true. Your mother is special to you, and if there are detailed records about her somewhere, she is special enough to warrant being written about. It's alright to feel sad about not getting to know or remember her enough, as you still remember that love for her.

But you can honor your mother by proving Dervan wrong about demons in this world by not being just another demon who simply rule over damned spirits in his own afterworld like a spider as Dervan puts it, but instead, as a overlord who rules over the living in this world. Not many demons if any can accomplish that. You're right now the only demon I know of who currently has their own kingdom among the living for example.

concerning feeling sad about not being able to remember your mother, and not knowing if what Dervan said is true or not on her being a goat sacrificial lamb, I think there are ways you can remember your mother. Dervan said there was a school of demonology, and it seems from his account that it knows quite a bit about her. I think it is very important and be therapeutic for you, Abdle, for all of us to try to look into researching about your mother. Maybe look for that school of demonology that Dervan talked about if it exists in this world, and if not, I'm sure there are texts and researchers out there that study demons who might know something about her. Heck, we can even ask Dervan himself if we visit his dream about what he learned about her, (though I do know you dislike him and might not want to listen to him...) We also have that new book seller who gave Bobbie that book about magic. Perhaps we can ask about any books about demons you can read?

I guess maybe that's why that one demon said it was pointless to feel sad about that, if it was really rude way to say it. Because there are ways to learn about your mother to help you remember.

Maya, do you know anything about this school of demonology Dervan talked about? is it somewhere not from this world?

Ask what the Bannisters think of Stienhardt

Reason why I want Bobbie to ask this is because I remember that Steinhardt wants to ally with Bobbie to defeat his ocean based foes, and in quest delegator, it was said that Bannisters need to stay in good graces with the neighbors of the great ocean. If we do ally ourself with Stienhardt, the bannisters might not want to ally with Bobbie. Something we might need to consider.

B) let's try to squeeze more out of him. It is obvious that he hates the one who is really running the guild. If he help us with the leader of the Banisters we can help him with his problem.

Sounds like a plan

If he has any issues about helping us like his hands being tied, I guess one thing we can do is ask him to write a letter of recommendation from him to the Bannisters right now, with his signature or something that can identify as him. And then he can give it to us and we can send it secretly to the Bannisters ourselves. Reason we should send it ourself and not him is if he tries to send it at the guild, someone at the guild, especially someone like Max, could try to read it if he tries to send it himself especially since he can tell if someone is lying. have him also write to the Bannisters not to write back to Dizelu, but instead write to Bobbie if they decide to give an invitation to Bobbie to discuss an alliance.

thinking ahead, We'll have to send it secretly when we get back from the party without the performers knowing though as if they are blackmailed to give Steinhardt information, we probably don't want information on wanting to form an alliance with Bannisters known to him and our performers just yet. If they ask, we can tell them we're sending Maya a letter or something.

>>1126379
I forgot to mention, when asking about Bannisters position on steinhardt, don't say anything about thinking about forming an alliance with Steinhardt. Gotta keep some things secret.

My review For the pie: Gr8 b8 m8, I r8 8/8
If there was a grain of salt here and there, it would have been a perfect 10

For our answer:
D. As they say, don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone…ooh hoo hoo hoo…

to my lesser demon buddies, if there is one guy not to make deals with, it’s this guy, no matter how good the deal may seem. I had a run in with this one on another quest, and he gave us a whole lotta issues after I trusted him. Example of his untrustworthiness: this sneaky guy served us the pie in front of Dizelu knowing we needed to remove our mask to eat it. Thankfully his plan failed since Bobbie painted her face blue, if she didn’t, Dizelu would have seen Bobbie’s unique purple skin, ruining her disguise

D. Hey Bobbie? May we get out of the darkness and watch whatever's left of the performance? We did a lot today, accomplished some things, while others didn't go as smoothly. it's important to not be overworking ourselves. Let's unwind and de-stress so we can be better focused for the next trials.

I wouldn't want to be an accomplice to an almighty prisoner that was put in prison for a reason by forces more powerful than him, no matter how good his deal is. He's lied to me before, I'm not falling for his tricks again.

B. That coin seems a lot more valuable than we realize based off his reaction.
And taking away a fear of Bobbie’s eye feels like could change a lot of Bobbie’s personality. Sure she would no longer fear it, but that fear also built up an experience and hardened her, and continues to do that. I’ve seen Bobbie many times go against all odds against some fearful foes, and she has always managed to have the courage she built up from that experience to counter those fears she has for her people. She took no shortcuts, and grew strong from it.

I think the darkness is starting to cause us to hallucinate and see things that shouldn’t be there. Let’s get back to the party where it’s brighter before we miss the rest of the performances

just wanted to add, this guy totally ruined everything for my friends and I in another quest after we trusted him. His betrayal still stings, and I am certain it will hurt hard if we take his deal
>>

"a chance to participate" is not a guarantee. in exchange for a coin that is guaranteed to be worth something, there should be more offered to us. tho i personally lean against making a deal with mysterious strangers cloaked in darkness
