>A, bite in self-defense
It goes against my very nature, but I have to bite to kill, otherwise Anthony would only become enraged and put me in even greater danger.

I strike at his forearm once, twice, pumping as much venom under his skin as I can. It takes my foe a moment to react, anger dulling his sense of pain. He releases my neck and gives a strangled yell as the poison begins to spread through his body.

“You evil woman–” He tries to strike me again but I duck out of the way. “No, no, damn you…”

The arm I bit is already dangling useless as my toxins disable his muscles. Anthony drops to his knees and groans. His whole body begins to convulse and he looks up at me in terror.

>Anthony death check (80%): Success
I put myself as far from Anthony as possible, in the corner by his dresser and the dirty cage. His eyes can’t even track the movement, and after a few choking breaths, he falls flat and goes still.

For a moment the only sound is my heartbeat pounding inside my head before the rabbits scream in horror.

“You killed him! You killed him!” Queenie shrieks, while Lola begins to sob. They cling to each other and stare at me with huge, accusatory eyes.

“I had to–he was strangling me without cause! I was worried for my life.” I plead. I can’t bear to look at the body. It could be you lying there, it could be any of my reptile friends.

There are tender bruises on my throat and stomach. My bandage has come loose and blood drips down my hand. I’ve killed a Gargill employee and it’s only a matter of time before he’s missed and the body is found.

Of course, I could call in the crime myself, claiming it was an act of self-defense. While I’d be telling the truth, at least this time, the police would question me thoroughly.

There are technically two other witnesses that I have to deal with in either case. My jaw aches and I bury my head in my hands.

A. Use Anthony’s phone to report his death as an act of self-defense
B. Leave the body and take the rabbits to Rudger
C. Other (suggest)

B. The rabbits escaped out the unlocked door when you fled in a panic and they were never seen again. At least, that's your alibi. The rain will cover up their (lack of) tracks.
You should contact Violet before the police.

A. First, tell the does to flee into the woods, or else they'll be reclaimed by Gargill and turned into meat. Let them out in the guise of trying to get outside away from the scene, in case anyone is watching. Then, call in the incident.

The neighbor is a witness to the reason you came here, Anthony was known as a weird hermit, he has a weird rabbit sex dungeon, and it's on the record that you were attacked by an unidentified reptile the other day. Ideally, you might be able to pin everything on him and blame the rabbits escaping on the incompetent helpless woman angle.

They've been kept inside their whole lives. They don't know how to reach the woods or what to do there, they need to be led that far. We don't want them to die just because their master did.
>>

You could maybe try to angle the blame on him in such a way where you happened across his deviant sex acts, you threatened to call the police, and he then attacked you. You have the wounds to prove he was assaulting you.
>>
No. 1118402 ID: fd169b

C) If Anthony isn't at work now, then he probably isn't expected all day. That gives you about 24 hours to deal with this before someone comes looking for him.

Now what if Rudger's friends were to come by tonight, with the door conveniently left unlocked, to ransack the place. Then when they're done, they smash some things, make some noise. Now this is the scene of a breaking and entering, which you can conveniently have been with a friend at the time it took place.

But for this to work you need to convince these two to come with you quietly. So talk to them. Walk through their options, but emphasize that if they stay here or go back to Gargil they'll just end up as meat.

>>

A, C

The rabbits are witnesses. Use their testimony! They saw him strangling you; they can report this to the police when they come in to question you.

Trying to run from the law will not further the cause of prey rights. Allowing people to see rabbits as creatures that can see and understand, that can speak and bear witness, would be a great leap forward. Any case with rabbit testimony is sure to be reported on widely, and inform many people who were as unaware as you that they can even speak.

Make sure the rabbits stay here, and call in the killing. Make sure that the rabbits speak to the police. Invoke them as witnesses.

Anthony's not actually dead yet, though. Venom that causes muscle paralysis stops the heart and lungs, but it's the lack of oxygen to the brain that kills. If Lucy knows CPR, she should begin administering it now while the rabbits retrieve his house phone and call emergency services. If not, she should retrieve the phone herself and follow the emergency dispatcher's instructions.

His odds of recovery aren't too bad, considering he stopped breathing only seconds ago, and a society of reptiles almost certainly has antivenom available for every kind of venom they produce. The amount of venom she injected will make recovery take longer, but active resuscitation should save his life.

Lucy isn't a murderer unless she makes no attempt to help Anthony here.

A) Okay, there's an easy way to spin this: he wasn't trying to kill you, he was trying to enslave you for his sick rape dungeon.
Here are the main talking points:
* You came over to Anthony's to talk about rabbit breeding. Anthony immediately refused, he ranted about Gustave bugging him out-of-work and when you tried to talk about Gustave bothering you as well, he thought you were spying on employees for Gustave. But the storm was getting extremely chilly and you don't have a car, so he let you stay for the night.
* Anthony was, surprisingly enough, a dead ringer for your dead husband, so you started putting the moves on him. He got antsy and said no, then went into the kitchen to make some nice, warm, libido-decreasing soup. (put a full pot of water on the stove, make sure you wipe your prints and leave his mitts on the table.)
* While Anthony was distracted, you decided to seduce him further by breaking into his room to spay your naked body over his bed. Your seduction fantasy was completely derailed when you discovered he'd been @#$%ing his pet rabbits, urine trails and all.
* You were so horrified, which stunned you long enough for Anthony to come back. He was infuriated, then he got a nasty grin on his face, and said something about 'de-thumbing his new rabbit'. You told him you wouldn't talk, but he grabbed your throat with one hand and then aimed the knife at your hands. (Stab the floor with a cleaver, around where Anthony would have it hoisted up.)
* You bit him in self-defense. You should have controlled your venom flow but you were just so scared and angry, that this doppelganger with your husband's face was going to turn you into his lifelong sex slave. You panicked for a few moments as his life snuffed out. (Poke his body everywhere)

Tell the rabbits that if they're sent back to Gargill, they'll be bred for pups and watch their children be sent off to die. If they go with you, they get as much or as little sex as they want.

>A, call in the bite
A plan starts to take shape in my mind. Anthony was a known misfit with an explosive temper–surely I can say I was acting in self-defense without getting in too much trouble. If I can convince Lola and Queenie to cooperate, I can even accomplish what I came here to do for Rudger.

>Talk to the rabbits
I approach the bed and the pair shrink against each other on the furthest corner of the mattress. I don’t want to release them into the town without guidance, since they’ve never been outside before, so I need to convince them to play along.

“I have something to tell you two; I came here because I wanted to free you from your master. I’m sure he did save you from the meat factory, but he wasn’t giving you a good life, trapped in your cage in his bedroom. I lied earlier when I spoke to him, my Rudger is a free buck who can leave my house as he pleases. You can live with him and his cagemates in the forest as wild rabbits, as long as you don’t contradict what I say to the police.”

They glare at me and sniffle.

“Otherwise Gustave Gargill will come here and make sure you’re both eliminated. You don’t even have to speak if you don’t want to, stay silent and I’ll take care of things. Alright?”

>Rabbit persuasion check (70%): Success
“D-Do you promise?” Queenie asks timidly.

“Yes, yes, I’ll do everything I can to make sure you’re happy. I’m sorry about Anthony, truly, I didn’t want to hurt him. I was doing what I had to.”

The two uncurl from each other and creep to the edge of the bed to stare down at his corpse.

“Maybe he’s not really dead. Maybe he’s asleep. Can you call a doctor to help him?” Lola pleads.

>Guilt
I face the body of my foe, growing stiff, tail limp. I kneel next to Anthony’s torso and place my hand on his still chest. My stomach rises in my throat.

“No, he’s gone. Even if a doctor administered anti-venom in the next five minutes it would be much too late.”

Lola wails while I pat around Anthony’s hips and retrieve his keys. I move the cage down to floor level so they have access to food and water, then let myself out into the hallway, shutting the door behind me.

Once I’m alone in the barren living room, tears prick my eyes. What am I doing? What have I done? This isn’t a white lie to a nosy businessman, I might have just ruined the rest of my life.

My body throbs from my various injuries and a deep exhaustion. I find the receiver installed haphazardly in the wall and tell the operator I need to speak to the police.

I tell the truth, emphasizing Anthony’s open deviancy and omitting my gaffe about taking his rabbits. I give the address and beg for a doctor as quickly as possible through my own genuine sobs. Once I’m done, I sit in one of the hard wooden chairs and stare at the floor.

It takes over an hour for a car to come trundling down the street. I unlock the door in preparation and open it as soon as I hear a sharp knock.

There’s an older lizard sheriff wearing his badge, flanked by a grave Gustave and an unfamiliar chameleon carrying a rifle across his back.

“Ma’am, please stand in the middle of the room and lie down on your stomach with your head facing away from the door.”

“Excuse me sir, why?”

“For the investigators’ safety, ma’am. We don’t want anyone else to get bit.”

It’s humiliating and uncomfortable, but I do as I’m told. I feel the thump of Gustave’s steps as he hurries toward the bedroom. The chameleon slams the front door shut and the sheriff’s boots enter my periphery.

I’m terrified that Gustave will kill Lola and Queenie on the spot, but he quickly returns with the rabbits shut in their cage and Anthony’s body over his shoulder.

“Plithiver’s dead. Bites on the arm, no signs of any other wounds. Windows were locked tight, these two won’t talk.”

“Hm.” The sheriff scribbles notes in a little pocketbook.

“And Dave, you swear you haven’t seen any rabbits in the area during your patrols?”

“No sir.”

“Alright, alright, at least we’ve ruled that out.” Gustave sets his cargo down and comes to join the sheriff at my side. “Now Miss Green, I find it exceptionally hard to understand why, after learning just yesterday that rogue rabbits were a danger to our town, you sought out fertile females to make more?”

"Goodness gracious, Mister Gustave. Are you accusing me of being involved in a conspiracy against reptile-kind?"

Give him time to reply. If he confirms this, say nothing further without legal counsel. If he denies this, ask him why he's suddenly lost any concern over the wellbeing of a woman injured in the home of his employee.

You need him to admit to any sort of awareness that you might have come here at any point. Anthony claimed that Gustave had warned him about someone trying to take his girls from him, and that was the motive behind his attack. That would mean Gustave had influenced Anthony into potentially attempting to murder you.

And it's astounding that he's comfortable asking you this in front of the police. He's either incredibly stupid, or so confident in his control over them that you probably won't receive due process.

Regardless, get a lawyer ASAP.

I think he's clearly got the force in his pocket, he knows this cop by name and orders him around like a direct supervisor.

He's unlikely to let Lola or Queenie out of his grasp either.

I think our best angle for this is to A) convince him Anthony tried to kill us because of his paranoia (this is true, we barely need to fib), and B) Impress him again.

>>1118555
This angle has a better chance if we present an actually viable idea. Particularly if we want any hope of fulfilling our promise not to let him take the does.

Thus, I have been stewing up this dystopian horror of a business idea:
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Treats. FAST Food. All you need is a few very comfortable rabbits living a hedonistic lifestyle to get it going. Probably not viable large scale like his system, but it would be a niche spot in the market for less morally objectionable meals, and the rabbit stock would be less dangerous.

We needed access to some does to get a seed crop. Give them some wine during pregnancy, and there's a good chance they'll produce very stupid babies. From that point we've skipped entire generations needed to genetically select for low intelligence. Sure, there's the chance they'll come out infertile, but that's what the normal baseline rabbits are living comfortably for.

Within a few generations, we could have a breed of food stock that no longer constitutes eating people. It's the morally upright thing to do.

Hopefully this idea is so remarkably based that it floors Gustave and he's foaming at the mouth to invest haha, please don't disappear us in the creek.

“I would like a lawyer before I answer any questions. I also do not recognize Mr. Gargill as a member of the force and I fail to understand why he’s here.” I say sternly.

The sheriff pauses his scribbling to answer. “The police have been cooperating closely with Mr. Gargill on the recent prey security breach. I asked him to join this investigation and he has my full confidence.”

“As I said in my initial call, I heard that Anthony had two rabbits and I was interested in finding my Rudger a companion, both to make some money from selling the offspring and to spread the joys of prey ownership. That is all.”

Gustave sighs. “All I’ve ever wanted is your cooperation, Miss Green. My mistake, my patience with you cost a man’s life.”

He reaches into his pocket and tugs on a pair of thick leather gloves. “You’ll be transported to the county jail and held until our rabbit situation is resolved. Kindly stay still while you’re milked, Miss Green. If you attempt to escape or bite me, Dave here will shoot to seriously injure or kill. Isn’t that right, Dave?”

“Yes sir.”

I hardly have time for his words to sink in before Gustave swings a leg over my back and takes hold of the top of my neck where it meets my skull. With his other hand he reaches around my torso to squeeze my right sac with his full strength. I scream in pain and outrage around a mouthful of venom.

He ignores me. They all ignore me, except for Dave, who unholsters a pistol and racks the slide. I try to stop writhing in terror, but can’t help how my body jerks in response to violation. I don’t want to be shot but I don’t want to be trapped under this terrible man at all!

The cage rattles as Queenie and Lola try to throw themselves at the latched door in an attempt to escape. There’s a puddle growing under my chin and Gustave switches his hands to crush my other sac.

My throat is raw by the time he finally releases me and stands.

“When you’re ready, we can go to the car.” he says in his usual friendly tone.

B. The police aren't going to allow the execution of witnesses to a homicide before they can secure a conviction. The rabbits will be fine, but you can't say anything that might implicate them as co-conspirators. As soon as you have legal counsel, you can get your lawyer to request interviews with them. Their testimony about what Anthony said Gustave warned him about will be central to your defense. You can't do anything that might result in the testimony being thrown out.

Ask the police to notify Violet and your mother about your arrest, and to have Violet take care of your property once the police have finished searching your home for evidence.

Well, nothing incriminating was said yet.

There's nothing we have to bargain with for Queenie and Lola, and associating them with us at all could be worse for them and for us. Gargill is in a mood and could make an example of them if he thinks we're emotionally invested in them right now.

The best we can do is verbal suggestion that they could have value as witnesses so they can beg themselves, and hope they pick up on it. Importantly, do not look at them at all.

B. "Gustave, Anthony was a disturbed man, I wish I could show you what he did. You couldn't have known. I came for business and he assaulted me. His actions weren't your fault, or mine."

I doubt he'll have much guilt, but he did know, and it could plant the idea in his head that he drove Anthony's paranoia deeper.

That crocodile bastard hurt me! He violated me! I’ve never hated a man more than I despise Gustave. There’s enough venom in my mouth that I could stand and spit in his face–see how he’d like that.

Dave has his beady eyes on me, gun still ready in his hand. No, what am I thinking? Even if I got lucky and managed to blind Gustave I’d surely be killed afterwards. They have to let me go free eventually, I mustn’t throw my life away.

I struggle to my knees, then my feet. My body aches from old and fresh wounds and I keep my head bowed in capitulation.

“Please sheriff, would you tell my friend Violet Beauregard and my mother Tracy Green what’s become of me? I trust them to look after my house while I’m away, I can’t bear to think of robbers ransacking the place.”

Several very real tears fall from my eyes, and the pitiful picture is enough that the old lizard agrees.

Next I turn to Gustave, but keep my distance. “Mr. Gargill, I knew Anthony for a short time, but he was clearly disturbed. He said you spoke with him often, and I’m sure you suspected he was mishandling his pets. I know you have influence over my case–all I ask for is a lawyer and a fair trial.”

“We’ll see, Miss Green. While you’re in jail you’re welcome to ask to call me at any time, if you feel like you’re ready to share.”

The sheriff cuffs my wrists together and gently leads me to the door. He opens it and ushers me into the cool, wet evening.

Two loud shots ring out and I jump with alarm. I turn my head to see the death throes of Queenie and Lola in their cage, scattering blood onto the already dirty floor.

“Why on earth would you do that? Those poor things, they didn’t do anything wrong!”

“My dear, you should understand by now that unspayed females are an enormous liability to the company.” Gustave explains with a hint of scorn.

The sheriff tugs on my wrist to break me out of my shock, unbothered by the cold-blooded murder he just witnessed. I wince and follow him to the car. The tears are flowing fast now–my life is in ruins and I’ve failed Rudger! What will he think when I never come home? How will he survive without a friendly reptile to help him?

And if you can't bear to live with this injustice without trying to make it right, then I'll support you however I can, every step of the way.

Darling, please make it out of this alive. Go on to live a long, happy life with Rudger, doing what you feel is right. And if anything or anyone stands in the way of that, let them burn.
